How do I connect wirelessly to an external screen?
You can connect wirelessly by connecting your external screen to an Apple TV and then wireless connecting your iPad to the Apple TV. For specific step-by-step instructions, check out this link: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204289.
| Note: If the Projector output is not completely filling up the screen, you may need to change the Apple TV "Overscan" or "Underscan" settings. The following Apple support article gives detailed instructions: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202763 |
You can also wirelessly connect to other devices that support Apple AirPlay, or computers running AirParrot, or AirServer, which both act as wireless receivers.
How do I set up a wired connection?
For iOS devices, first of all, we always recommend using the 'official' HDMI adapters available from Apple. The reason we recommend this is because we have noticed that updates to iOS (iPadOS) tend to mysteriously cause 'non-Apple' adapters to quit working!
For the Mac, Projector can open Output and Confidence windows and you can move them to any screen that is connected to your Mac. Once you move to the screen you want, you can put the window into Fullscreen mode.
For specific step-by-step instructions on iOS adapters, check the following Apple support articles, based on the type of adapter that you need (depending on the version of iPhone or iPad that you have):
Earlier Apple devices (Lightning & 30-Pin dock connectors): https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202044
Latest iPads (USB-C): https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207806
| Note: If the Projector output is not completely filling up the screen when you are using a wired connection, try switching away from the Projector app and then back to the app. This workaround has been helpful for devices running iOS 13 & iPadOS 13, and is not something that we can 'fix' in Projector. |
What are the requirements for wireless display?
Wireless display requires AirPlay mirroring which is available on all 2nd generation (and newer) iPads. WorshipStorm Projector will not run on the original iPad 1, which does not support iOS 9 (the minimum iOS version required for Projector). Macs can also connect to AirPlay devices as an additional screen, which Projector can then use.
Is there any delay when displaying wirelessly?
As long as you have a reliable WiFi connection, the latency is barely noticeable and the display output feels almost instant. However, we have found that videos can stutter if too many things are happening on your device in the background, including push notifications. If you notice video stuttering, it is most likely because you have too many push notifications configured for other apps. Push notifications alert you of updates for apps, like when your device tells you you have new email. We recommend turning off as many push notifications as possible in your device Settings.
Why do you charge a monthly fee?
The small monthly fee helps us cover the continual costs involved in developing and updating the app.
Do I have to have a Planning Center Services account?
Yes, all of the information used in Projector is downloaded from your Planning Center Services account.
Is there a version of Projector I can run on my computer?
Yes, Projector is both an iOS app (iPhone and iPad) as well as a macOS app (Mac computer). No other computer (ie: Windows) or mobile (ie: Andriod) operating systems are supported at this time.
What types of media are supported?
Standard images, videos, audio, and PowerPoint files can be used in Projector. You can Export any slideshow (PowerPoint, Keynote, Slides, whatever) into a PDF file, or into images (JPG or PNG), ZIP them up, and attach the PDF or ZIP file to an item and we'll treat it as a "slideshow". Check out the Slideshows help article for additional details.
Supported File Types:
Video – H.264 Video & MPEG4 video – .mov .mp4 .m4v .m3u8 (streaming) YouTube links (streaming)
Audio - .mp3 .m4a .m3u8 (streaming)
Images – .jpg .jpeg .png
Slideshow (converted PowerPoint image collection) - .zip
Slideshow (converted PowerPoint) - .pdf
Does Projector have any sample media to use?
Projector does not have any built-in media for use in slides (backgrounds, logos, etc). You can obtain free and for-fee media from many media sites, download them to your Planning Center media library, and they will then be available to attach to your plan items so that Projector can use them. Here are a couple of sites to help get you started: CreationSwap (https://www.creationswap.com/) and Centerline New Media (https://centerlinenewmedia.com/).
Do I have to have an internet connection?
You have to connect to the internet to download your plan and the media attached, but once the plan and media are downloaded to your device, you can run Projector without being connected to the internet. If you plan on display output wirelessly, you do have to remain connected to the same WiFi network as your AppleTV. The Quick Song feature does require being connected to the internet to function. Also, any streaming media (YouTube, video, audio) requires an internet connection since those media types are not pre-downloaded to Projector by design.
Projector keeps crashing after I have updated the app - help!
On rare occasions, when the Projector app is updated, you will not be able to run the app because it keeps crashing. When this happens, you will need to completely reset the application data so that Projector can run from a totally "fresh" state.
For iOS and iPadOS, this is simple - just delete the Projector app and reinstall it from the App Store.
For macOS, things are a bit more tricky, since macOS keeps the actually application and its data in separate locations. To completely reset the application data on macOS, do the following:
1. Go into Applications, Utilities, and run the Terminal app
2. In the terminal app, type in the following command, then press the return key (you can copy/paste this command to make it easy):
rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.worshipstorm.projector
3. Launch the Projector app again, login with your Planning Center credentials, and Projector should be able to startup once again.
